Master the Science of Strengths

The two-day intensive is a deep dive into the research and science-based interventions on the VIA Classification, the backbone of strengths. You'll learn to use the VIA Survey and Interpretive Reports, plus the latest science-based interventions in your practice with clients, and in your workshops.

On day one, you'll work in small groups that exhibit like strengths. You'll practice strength-spotting, and experience strengths in balance and when over or under played. You'll explore current, accepted protocols for presenting the results of the VIA Survey on Character along a five-point model for effective coaching. On day-two you'll take a thorough look at key strengths interventions that are backed by a significant research base. You'll learn interventions that have proven effectiveness across strengths and populations. You'll explore how you can work with strengths of character, talent, skill and interests with individuals and with workshops.  The goal: a sense of confidence that you have a thorough understanding of the scientific basis for strengths of character and know how they play out in the areas of positive emotions, relationship-building, accomplishment and meaning.

The Intensive will be taught with a mix of interactive exercises, lecture, video of experts in the field, and movie clips. Our distinguished teachers: Ryan M. Niemiec, Psy.D., VIA's Education Director, clinical psychologist and author; and Tayyab Rashid, Ph.D., clinical psychologist, known for his work in Positive Psychotherapy. Dr. Rashid teaches the Intensives in San Francisco, Toronto, Mumbai, New Delhi and Dubai.
