Research abstract:
We are beginning to create a curriculum entitled "Claiming Your Strengths, Reclaiming Your Life" which will apply Positive Psychology to the severely mentally ill population in order to help them recover valued roles in society such as meaningful relationships and vocations.

Research findings:
So far, we have piloted the VIA Signature Strengths Survey with some of our consumers and they are finding it motivating that they have strengths and that they can move beyond the pathology of mental illness and recover a better quality of life for themselves than they may have thought possible.

Research next steps:
We want to continue to interface Positive Psychology materials with information on getting and keeping relationships and jobs. We want to make "Claiming Your Strengths, Reclaiming Your Life" into a marketable product for other agencies as well as write about it in journals and in a book.
